Dealer fees: junk vs legally required
If a fee cannot be mapped to a public DMV line, treat it as a dealer price — negotiable or removable.
DMV side
Title, registration, plate, and some inspection programs are government or quasi-government charges. TagTally’s fee tables target this side with bands and notes.
Dealer side
Doc fees pay the store’s paperwork process. Some states cap them; others do not. Backend products are sales items. Bundling them into “OTD” without labels is how comparisons break.
